The success story of the Bavarian State Garden Shows began with the first Bavarian State Garden Show in 1980 in Neu-Ulm. Together with the local authorities, the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Bayerischen Landesgartenschauen mbH (Society for the Promotion of Bavarian State Garden Shows), founded in 1978, has now been realising all garden shows in Bavaria for forty years. 34 garden shows have been realised since then, creating hundreds of hectares of permanent green and recreational areas in Bavaria.

Open space culture plays an important role in a city of millions. Landscape architect Peter Kluska recognized this early on and helped create some of the city's most important open spaces. In particular, the design of the Westpark, of which Kluska is considered the "father", goes back to his design.
For this and for his contribution to the design of other open spaces, Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter presented Peter Kluska, in the presence of his wife Dr. Edith Kluska-Szügyi, with the silver medal "München leuchtet - Den Freundinnen und Freunden Münchens" on 17 July 2020.

On Monday, October 5, the Institute for Urban Development and Housing in cooperation with the bdla Bayern in Munich will host the full-day expert seminar "Green Infrastructure as a Building Block of Urban Climate Adaptation", which was originally scheduled for May 7.
The aim of the symposium is to comprehensively discuss the use of green infrastructure together with blue and grey infrastructure as an important and effective building block of urban climate adaptation.
